Sunday Club Runs

Club runs take place every Sunday throughout the year starting from Boots corner in the centre of Crewe at 0900 hrs.

Based on past experience we do not publish a runs list, preferring instead to decide on the day depending on those members present, their abilities and commitments, wind direction and general weather forecast.

Distances vary with the seasons but those out for a longer ride will expect to cover between 70 to 100 miles with a stop for lunch at café or garden centre. Those requiring a shorter ride and / or a need to be home for lunch can expect 40 to 50 miles usually with a stop for a cuppa and cake. All rides are completed before the need for lights and no later than 1700 hrs.

We consider ourselves extremely lucky living in South Cheshire on the edge of the Cheshire Plain sandwiched between Shropshire and Staffordshire where we enjoy some of the best cycling on virtually traffic free lanes in the country.

From the relatively flatness of Cheshire with its famous picturesque Tudor black and white buildings set in delightful villages to the rolling countryside of Shropshire and Staffordshire rich with industrial museums and constantly changing scenery.

As fitness improves through March and April we venture into the hills of Derbyshire and the Staffordshire Peaks. These rides are challenging for the all day rider while those out for half a day can also gain a sense of achievement.

Heading west sees us visiting the lakes of Ellesmere, the hills around Llangollen and the beautiful valleys around Glyn Ceiriog set in the Berwyn Mountains.

Rides to the north are restricted to Delamere Forest, the Wirral and those areas towards Dunham Massey, avoiding the congestion of south Manchester.

In keeping with all cyclists our members have a wealth of knowledge of cafes in our areas of travel, never being short of refreshment.

For more information on our rides and for a friendly chat call the club Secretary Andy Grace on 01270 841836.
